Gluten-Free Soup from Kettle Cuisine!

Wow! I don't recall the last time having proper chicken noodle soup without it being homemade, and let me tell you - this is very close to it!

I was utterly surprised to find that the chicken in the gluten free soup from Kettle Cuisine tasted proper quality, while the rice noodles were not left soggy and tasted quite amazing heated up over the stove! I posed above with the "Tomato soup with garden vegetables". Also very tasty!

I thought I would write about this gluten-free find, because it was a great one! You can get these soups along with other flavours at Loblaws (and sister companies I believe) You can read more about the company, and other delicious soups they create, here.

Try it, you'll love it! Mmmm...

Cults: Abducted - Amazing Song and Band!

I'm currently digging on this new duo from New York called Cults consisting of two lovely musicians - (Brian Oblivion, Madeline Follin) and I can't stop listening to "Abducted"! They remind me a little of Arcade Fire - which is a mighty huge compliment in my books.

They are going to blow up huge! I am usually right about these things as well :)

Seche Vite - Top Coat Review!

Shame on me for such a late and spaced post! Speaking of space - I painted my nails to look like the galaxy a few days ago with the brilliant top coat from the company - Seche called "Seche Vite", and it's been pretty fantastic to me!

I was in Sephora before Christmas and made quick friends with one of the girls who worked there (she loved my earrings from Stella & Dot) and we decided to trade secrets and she told me about the best top coat in the world!

Like most of us ladies (some men as well), we love to paint our nails but hate the waiting game for them to dry. I found with this top coat that it actually dried within - 5 minutes? It's insane.

I really want to get into gel nail colour, but I think I would have a hard time committing to 2 + weeks of the same colour. So, I feel this top coat is the next best thing, and my nails haven't chipped much - if at all, and with a little person around and playing guitar - my fingers usually look like a hot mess after a couple of short days. So, I'm mighty impressed.

This product is amazing, and I've been using it for a little bit of time now, and it hasn't failed me yet! Nails still shiny - zero yellowing on light colours and they just feel nice to touch :)

I found mine at Winners - so perhaps you may find it there, but it's available to purchase online as well!

My New Favourite French Singer: Mara Tremblay!

I just came across this video today, and I am in love with everything about it. Mara's got this lovely sound and her pretty poise in this track.

The whole "Tu m'intimides" album is so brilliant. You have to check it out. It's Magnifique!

New "Morten" Couch from EQ3! (Pics of Edie, too!)

If any of you recall, we had a super dark couch in the living room - matching all of the wood and it just felt extremely dark! We have been here for over a year and a half now, and it was time to update the couch that belonged to the previous owner - that we bought from them. It was much easier than moving more in and blah, blah ;)

Really happy with the new couch as it really lightens up the room, and the energy just feels so much better to walk down to in the morning :) It brightens my mood!

Edie also wanted to say "cheese" to the camera. I can't believe she is over 15 months old. Insane! She's so entertaining these days :)

Really loving this girl! The production is killer and I wish I could sound like this! Have you checked out Florrie, yet? She has a couple EP's and singles, but I really hope to hear more from her. This England based singer, songwriter, drummer (!? - awesome!) has some really solid, brilliant tracks and I would say that my favourite is her "Introduction" EP

Busy, Busy and Missing My Edie!

I haven't had a moment to do anything online except the odd facebooking, since I have got here to Stavanger, Norway. It feels like I arrived only yesterday, but this is not the case at all! I have been here already for 10 days (including traveling) and heading home in a couple hours. I had such a wonderful time, and I am going to miss this place, like I do every time I leave this beautiful country.

It will be great to get back to the cats, and of course my little Edie Marie! I will add a couple of great photos taken by my neighbour, Kathryn Cole Photography. She is all sorts of talented when it comes to the camera, and it was so awesome to have such a last minute photoshoot. (literally the day before we left) and Nicole is just so fun!

Making a face that reminds me so much of my late Gramma, here :)

I also literally missed the boat for the airport. I got on the ferry and realized I didn't have my purse which equals everything I need in life to go anywhere, so we had to back out and head back. Now, I am waiting for the 4:15 am to take me a couple steps closer to home. I have super long waits at the airports - so I really hope I can pass out when I fly to make it feel a little shorter :)

I can't wait to bite those little cheeks, though!

I will totally admit this was the first thing I did on November 1st: I got up, went down to the basement to fetch these little lovelies - as I couldn't wait to put them out on display!

I was so excited to take photos and share them with you all, but unfortunately I spilled hot tea onto my track pad that was already on the fritz and had to hand it over to the Apple people to fix. (Thank goodness that this was the only problem and now it's working like new again!)

I've been looking at these two pieces by Italian designer Massimo Giacon for good couple of years now, and I finally thought it would be really sweet to have them, and to pass on to Miss Edie for her future Christmas home one day. I can't really express how beautiful these pieces are, and I have wrote in the past of how much I love Alessi, I am on a proper kick again. These things aren't cheap but I believe in quality over quantity :)

Here I have the "Christmas Cowboy" figurine and "The Hug Tree" - both designed by Mr. Giacon. They also carry a beautiful gloss on top as they hold their own on my kitchen shelf! I linked them so you can check them out and find them at a store near you if you adore them as much as I do!

She even knew how to stand in one of the many French named poses... An old soul she is :)

The Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger! This movie is B-rilliant! ;)

Set in the 80s in all of its glory, this cheesy slasher is going to have you in stitches!

Tonight, I was lucky enough to attend a wonderfully dark-humoured B-movie that was filmed in lovely Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It had a well written storyline with just the right amount of holes in the plot. The one-liners were such that the Forest Ranger himself probably sat for hours making them up before he went out on his gory trek to catch these littering, partying, mindless teens!

Enjoying the poster Brad Mills himself gave to me! Super cool!

You have the stereotypical joking virgin, the paranoid brunette, the blonde bimbo and the jock. The sound editing was done quite well, and the music was all original - which was extremely impressing and flowed wonderfully throughout.The actors did so well to keep in character while playing out the retro/corny dialogue!

I couldn't help but laugh at the little brilliant classic "editing mishaps", as Chrissy - constantly doing makeup and fixing her hair, always staring in her little compact - decides to paint her nails while the group elects her to go out to the car to get more beer. As she is fighting with the keys to get in the trunk, the nail polish is completely gone. Bad cut scenes truly make this authentic to its genre. Colour me impressed!

Loved this super teen-dream scene in all of its clichéd glory!

In all of it's gloriousness, I definitely can't wait to witness this great work again. Brad Mills wrote a very quirky and awesome script and the cinematography was well studied by him and his sister Jacquelyn Mills to make this a great cult classic to be. I think this film is appetizing enough to give us The Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger 2, and hopefully in 3-D!

Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque Du Soleil! (Tina Guo stole the show!)

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Detroit for my cousin's bachelorette party! (I am standing up as one of the bridesmaids) We had a really great time and it was nice to visit with all the other girls involved. Here is the epic show in a nutshell for your viewing pleasure.

I will say this was a wonderful show, and a little bittersweet for me. I wish it was Michael Jackson that I was actually witnessing, and some of the background cinematography was taken from his last "This is It" tour he was supposed to do. I was mesmerised by the imagery of him while the band played. The band was so damn tight and I could have watched them play alone all day.

The dancers and amazing acrobats were perfect. The pole dancer, I quite fancied as she was also so very strong and graceful. The show in whole was lovely.

There would be a couple things I would have changed, like too much of Bubbles the chimp and the giant dancing glove and shoes was sort of tacky in my opinion.

But the lady that stole the show and my heart was Tina Guo on the electric cello. She was beautiful and her whole vibe was just fantastic on stage! I wanted to see more and more of her!

This post is basically about her and how she reminds me a little of my other favourite string player, Vanessa Mae who plays beautiful violin!

So, of course I had to find more of her work, and she has a single called "Queen Bee" and it has this Apocalyptica vibe to it. I am going to post it below. Michael would have been so proud!

Cirque Du Soleil did a wicked show, and if can get a chance to have a night to relive the magic of Michael Jackson, you really should!

I finally got around to finishing a song this evening, as it was a night-in for me :) (Have to be in super great for shape for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!)

The music was just dying to get out and tonight seemed perfect enough for me.

Doing Berklee Music online has been such a very inspiring venture for me - as I've met some really wonderful, brilliant people. It just makes me keep wanting more and to move forward with my deepest, truest love - music!

Healthy Creations: Fresh Gluten-Free Bakery!

I've been raving about this bakery for quite some time now, and I can't even believe I haven't written about it yet!

I got a few fresh things today, as Thanksgiving weekend is creeping up on us, and as I was going through the photos I took of breads for hands. My sister-in-law creepingly messaged me if I had heard of "Healthy Creations Bakery" over Skype. I said it was freaky as said "I was just editing a post about it right now!!!"What a weird connection we have! Love you, Mandiemoon!

So yes, Healthy Creations Gluten Free Bakery is to die for and I will forever go back!

Best bread, muffins, pizza bottoms, cookies - ever! I enjoy that place so much!

I picked up a couple loaves of my beloved "Sorghum" and a couple "Multigrain" (for turkey stuffing purposes :)

I took a picture of the very first business card (and only card) they gave me so it's a little bent, but it basically says everything on it that you need to know!

There is nothing more cozy than bringing fresh warm bread home (that's a true bread winner! ;) and I've missed that experience for so many years, until now, and I am very much enjoy it!

If you are in the London, Ontario - or surrounding area, I highly suggest you give it a try! You'll be hooked. Promise.

The last time I was in Norway, I had the privilege to work with my wonderful friend, Einar Moen (Tristania) on yet another awesome track!

Every time I visit, we always find a way to steal a moment to record as much as we can - because he basically lives a hop, skip and a jump from where I stay :)

This time, we decided to work on a cover called "Past the Point of Rescue" by country star - Hal Ketchum! (You can take a listen to the original version here for anyone who is unfamiliar with it.) I recently found out the original was by Mick Hanly, though :)

Although this original song is all countrified in all of it's glory (still pretty fantastic) - I hold it very close and dear to my heart.

It was the very first concert I ever attended at the age of 8 - in Dollywood (huge Dolly Parton fan!) Pigeon Forge, Tennessee!

I remember I was so enthralled with him as I sat there, listening attentively - enjoying my cotton candy on a stick.

As I get older, I can't help to think Hal Ketchum gets even more good looking! Weird? Whatever. I'm probably just becoming more like my mother everyday ;)

Mr. Ketchum is a writing genius, and I have loved this song for many years!

I was super happy to work on our own rendition of this track, and finally get to hear it finished :)

Mord Fustang!

After my brother Endoplasmic tweeted this wicked commercial today for Weetabix cereal - I instantly fell in love with the music!

Who the hell is this, and why haven't I heard of his impressiveness? - I asked myself. (Or something like it ;)

It sounded like something Ed Banger would have on his label because it sounded quite French-like. But - super talented Mord Fustang hails from lovely Estonia and is making amazing, sweet beats!

I went on iTunes and purchased "A New World" immediately, and couldn't help but dance around the house - especially to this brilliant track "The Electric Dream." It's like watching "Weekend at Bernie's" as my soul comes alive and takes over! ;)

This 6 song EP is pretty fantastic, and highly suggest a check out!

Grand Island: Östra Knoll 1:22 - Loving this album all over again!

I've talked about Grand Island before. I love this Norwegian band, and I am really digging the album "Östra Knoll 1:22" again these last few days.

Espen Gustavsen's voice is amazing, and the songwriting is dynamite. I still regret not seeing them live when I had the chance!

Their older work is very much like "Kaizers Orchestra" in my opinion - but still different. Both very awesome bands.

Perhaps one day I'll have the opportunity to see them live :)

I highly suggest this album! I really loved their track "Love in Decay" that I mentioned in the past, but there are sooooo many amazing songs lyrically and melodically from these guys!

Tori Amos: "Night Of Hunters" Review!

Tori is so beautifully, classically trained. I feel like I am on a romantic adventure with her throughout this dark and whimsical album.

I would have to say these tracks are up there with one of my favourite Amos albums "Choirgirl Hotel"

But, I love them all so dearly and in different ways - really. The production on her latest project is amazing, and her voice haunts throughout the complexity of the characters. Enchanting.

So happy about "Night of Hunters"! (My last Tori Amos post about the countdown to this!)

Fall is always the time of year I listen to a lot of Romantic and Baroque classical pieces. But, it also sounds very Native American, like within the song "Carry" (last song posted, below)

I also think it's also wonderful she included her daughter, Natashya in a couple tracks. She emulates her mothers voice to a tee. It's almost scary, but in a really good way :)

Tori Amos' latest release is cozy and so warm sounding, It has a familiarity as that of "Midwinter Graces" which I also adore! (click link for my review)

My past life just dances with this new album! I can relate to this music so much in my soul.

I'm still waiting for the physical album to come in the mail. Yes - I think that is also a part of the whole listening experience.Going through the notes while sitting in front of the CD/Record player. It's quite an organic experience for me - still :)

Have you bought/heard the new Tori Amos "Night of Hunters" album? You really should. It's fantastic!

I've included a couple of my favourite songs. "Your Ghost" actually gives me goosebumps when I listen to it. It's true Tori!

Foster The People: Torches - Best Album of the Year!

I can feel it! Foster The People will be up for zillions of awards and like Arcade Fire won album of the year this past year, this band will do the same! I cannot rave about this album enough!

The production is amazing and the lyrics make my heart melt and the tracks are all around, wicked.

MGMT comes to mind when it comes to vocal effects and a little bit melodically - but I feel a little more passion and hookie-ness from these boys!

My soul just dances listening to this Los Angeles, California-based band. I am going to post in here - my favourite tracks :) (I'm sure you have all heard their single "Pumped Up Kicks") ;)

You HAVE to buy this album if you haven't already. Seriously.

DODOcase Made in San Francisco!

Loving my DODOcase in front on my birdfeeders!

Some of you my know my brother and his wife live in San Francisco and I wanted to pay homeage to such a lovely place by purchasing an iPad case made right in the city!

I have been eying this DODOcase since the first iPad came out, hoping it would live up to my expectations, and it has far exceeded them! The bamboo wood is highly durable, and the case in general is very slim in form and gorgeous!

It looks like a giant Moleskine journal which makes me heart it even more. The inside material is customizable in colour - as you see I chose a light pink which reminds me of tea and old Victorian tones.

I can't rave about this case enough! If you own an iPad, iPad 2, Playbook or Kindle - you should really consider this case! If you want to stash things like money or something - I suggest buying the DODOcase too! ;)

Birthday Loveliness!

Even though today Edie officially turns 11 months (insane!), I just wanted to share with you my birthday loveliness and surprise!

As most of you know, I tweeted a bunch of pics as my day went on, starting with my mom and I hitting up Fayez Beauty Spa for a manicure and pedicure to get ready for my brother's big day!

I received some lovely earrings by Stella & Dot from my mom and dad (pictured above)!

I also was blessed with cute Chloe sunglasses from Endoplasmic and Moxy that I already wrote about a few months ago in this blog.

Love them so much!

My Norwegian family got me a gift card to use while I am visiting in Norway to shop anywhere in the town of Stavanger - and I am uber excited to hit up Moods of Norway, Wolford and Ilse Jacobsen!

So excited to use it! Such a cool idea that all the stores get together to use one gift card.

I also got a cute surprise from my Norwegian sister-in-law as she knows how much I love tea and got me this really cute tea strainer from Denmark (where she presently lives) and it just makes me smile to look at. That she thought of me was really sweet!

There is this local designer that makes these really cool garden creatures using a torch - and it just has this haunting, Tim Burton-esque - very cool effect!

It's so weird that Sockboy and Mandiemoon thought of me when they saw this little Bunny in Stratford one day. I love him so much!

He reminds me of the killer bunny from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

Because we are leaving soon and my number one stress for traveling is with Miss Edie, so to make things easier I got the same diaper bag as Mandiemoon (with a different pattern of course;) from Petunia Pickle Bottom called the Wistful Weekender in Rambling Rose, because it had loads more room, not to mention it's loaded with style!

So I don't have to lug more than that one bag around while we take the long-long journey. :) I am sure it will make life a little easier, as it already has for the last couple weeks of owning it!

So with me buying that bag, I was pleasantly surprised that I actually received anything from the hubby on my day! He said we were going to go on a long ride and brought a rope with him that his mother spun herself the day before at Pioneer Village (random fact that I will talk about it another post).

I was a little nervous with what he would do with a rope and driving me miles away ;)

We ended up stopping at Milestones for a nice birthday lunch a tasty dessert, and then went for a long drive ending up at a gas station in Goderich.

I thought hmmm... What could be here? This lady said "You're here for the bike!" A bike?! I softly screeched in excitement. With smiles galore as they pulled out this beautiful Norco Rio Vista to my view.

The hubby found on Kijii what seemed to be last year's model and the girl who was selling it had bought a car and no longer wanted her bike. It was in beautiful shape with a basket included! It was perfect for what I needed it for - getting little groceries for nightly dinners up the street, as walking can be a lot sometimes :)

It was such an awesome surprise as I had no idea! The crazy thing was that it was the same colour as my bike I received when I was 9 years-old, my 15-gear Supercycle bike called "Storm". That time they hid it in the trailer we had at the time and that was also a moment I will never forget - so it was nice to relive something like that again :)

I still can't wrap my head around this tragedy. The photographs haunting my thoughts every second of the day. How can someone be so cruel and hainus to kill such innocent people and youth. My heart is so heavy while I pray for these Norwegian families as they have lost best friends, daughters and sons. It's been a solemn last couple of days in our household while my Norwegian in-laws have been here visiting.

Norway is such a beautiful country, and like me and many Norwegians could not ever fathom something as awful as this. I have had nightmares the times I am not lying awake and hoping it all was a bad dream.

Oslo, and the rest of Norway is such a wonderful place, and this injustice will not kill the Norwegians belief for a better world. They strongly belive in peace, as it is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize.

These unfortunate events will not destroy the people of Norway, if anything it will make them stronger.

I love you Norway. You are proudly my second home. :)

I will try my best to make some updates this week, as it will be uber busy here at home. My brother is also getting married next weekend, which is pretty awesome! It's also my birthday! Woot! I'll be 25 years young and pretty excited for it.

It will be nice to have my family home and all around me :) For now, I am enjoying my new Norwegian flags as I can't wait to wave them around every 17th of May. :)

When The Backyardigans come on tv, you can usually catch me listening to their songs because they are so well written! They are auto-tuned to the max, but still! As a songwriter, the tunes are pretty catchy but in a cool, non-childish way.

While admiring Kate Moss's wedding dress designed by John Galliano (a creative genius who I still love - regardless), I couldn't help but read about his trial.

As soon as I saw the courtroom sketches of John, all I could think about was his twin - separated at birth...

BOB from Twin Peaks! Don't you see the crazy resemblance? I actually was soooo scared looking up a picture of Bob, that I kept looking behind me as if he would hop over my couch in that famous freaky ass scene where Maddie has a vision that Bob is attacking her.

It's much scarier in concept once you get into the series to properly understand how in-depth and cool this is. One of the creepiest scene's of life.

iLove iPad 2!

The iPad was something I really wanted, but was afraid that it would be too similar to my iPhone, and I was sad that perhaps I wouldn't use it as much as I thought I would. Boy, I was wrong!

I downloaded Elle Magazine as a yearly subscription - as it is full on interactive! You can watch movie trailers they mention, and create an inspiration board of all your favourite clothing items and accessories within that month.

I will admit that scrolling through was not as intuitive as I thought and it took me a few tries to read through the magazine. But, there are so many little hidden things to do I am actually not fully through it yet :)

After my sister-in-law showed me the lovely interactive baby books for download, I jumped on those instantly and they have been a hit when having to keep Edie occupied.

I still love to read real books to her. I never want to take that good book feeling away :) I will say I love how you can tap on the words and it is said back to you while high-lighted. Very good teaching tool from the future, I say!

Making music can sometimes be a little difficult when I am out and inspiration strikes at odd hours of the night or just weird times in general.

I normally produce my music on FL Studio and they just came out with an amazing iPad app called "FL Studio Mobile" to make beats on the go and import them on to my full version to finish. That right there was worth the iPad alone :)

Although I love writing on paper with a pen, sometimes it's just easier to throw my quick ideas with my finger with the new Bamboo app by Wacom that is actually free for the rest of June - so get on it!

Now I actually have to buy the Bamboo pen for the iPad, but unfortunately it's back-ordered everywhere. Grr fest. It's the future though!

I've also recently became obsessed with Big Fish Games which are now having a Summer Solstice sale making the games 80% off! I am really digging "Awakening: The Dreamless Castle" and "Awakening: Moonfell Wood" which are both pretty girly but oh-so magical and enchanting!

It's my escapism to a time I was supposed to live, or perhaps I did live in that time. Yeah, one of my lives I did :)

But, very cool games and one that will interest anyone. I am thinking of getting "Puppet Show: Mystery of Joyville" Looks pretty scary though! - in a good way :) I'm very impressed.

In the summer I love reading about ghosts, but it always gets me in the end. I was reading about this Ghost radar app and just reading the reviews scared me enough to not get it and I was following my man like a lost puppy after that. He insisted that I never look up ghostly things like that again. I am just asking for trouble. He is unfortunately right.

I'm very happy with my anniversary gift and I hope I get to use it for a long time :)

There is a case coming in for it, but I had to send it to my brother in San Francisco, but I will review it once it comes home to me :)

Pizza Delight Goes Gluten-Free!

As a native to Strathroy, Ontario - I enjoyed Pizza Delight very much over the span of my childhood life. Unfortunately I could no longer indulge in such a good pizza, because of my gluten allergy.

My parents were really in the mood for some pizza while I was visiting - so I decided to check out Pizza Delight's online allergen menu just to see if my pizza prayers could be answered - well they were when I discovered the Gluten Free.pdf! "Shut the front door!" I yelped in over-excitement. I called to make sure they had it at their location - and they did!

The verdict of the g-free dream? Best pizza ever! Hands down! It's also not expensive and a bigger than usual size medium! I have to be careful with the cheese though - so next time I will order with much less to none. But it sure was tasty!

If you are wanting a good gluten-free pizza, definitely check out Pizza Delight! Woot!

Missing Norway

It seems the one Norwegian TV-channel is producing a live feed this week from the fjord cruise line Hurtigruten, as one of their ships is making it's way north along the coast of Norway. Apparently the live feed had 3 million viewers on the weekend, and was even being shown live on trains as far away as South Korea.

It's funny to see how people are trying to get on TV - they even had to send out fire fighting boats to spray the small boats and get them out of the way, as hundreds of them were getting in the path of the larger ship.

Edie was having some little bumps on her face and I decided to use this oil on her face, and by the next morning - the bumps were almost gone! It's been a week since I posted last. How outrageous! So sorry for the lack of posts! It's been such a crazy week! I should have wrote about this wicked band Wild Beasts weeks ago when they released their album "Smother"

I have been listening to "Albatross" for quite some time and the album delivers the same awesome quality throughout.

Hayden Thorpe's voice reminds me of Annie Lennox and a little Kate Bush if you were to slow their voices down a smidge to make it lower - it would make for a lovely mix of vocals and a huge compliment for this lead singer in my opinion :)

Lady Gaga - Born This Way Album Review!

I guess you could say I waited until midnight last night for iTunes to update so I could get my Gaga on. I was pretty excited to get the bonus track version of Lady Gaga's latest "Born This Way" and after listening to the album a couple of times I can say I have a few favourite tracks. A lot of people are saying she can't beat Fame, but at the same time I feel that was a collection of her greatest work to show the world - and now the Lady is going to give us different vibes and growth with each album.

This album is dark, and 80s fantastic. When I listen to the tracks I sum it up to a Mexican Day of the Dead vibe with that beautiful Catholic art.

Sort of like Romeo + Juliet (Leonardo DiCaprio & Claire Danes styles)

You already know I love the track "JUDAS" and I am also feeling the remix version of the track as well as the remix of Scheiße, both by DJ White Shadow.

I am digging the production of this album - That is really the first thing I notice with Gaga. Always impressed.

The track "Bloody Mary" gets me in the heart and I love that breakdown with the dark voices "Gaga" throughout the track and the chorus is just beautiful - the whole song is just wow to me! Definitely check it out! Americano is very much a neon Mexicano wicked vibe. Love!

When Lady Gaga wrote the track Scheiße I am pretty sure she was watching "Run Lola Run" (or, as it's called in Germany; "Lola Rennt"). As soon as I heard the beginning of this track I thought it sounded EXACTLY like "Believe or Wish (Komm Zu Mir) sung by Franka Potente (Lola in the movie). I am also sure there is an actual German version of this track but I can't find it at the moment.

How I know this was because my brother bought me the soundtrack for Christmas when it came out, as I loved the movie so much! I wanted to be German and Lola herself.

Such a fantastic movie and soundtrack! I wore it out for sure!

Don't you agree her German track sounds eerily sisterly? Click the links above to hear the difference or shall I say; SUPER similarities :) I LOVE the chorus on this track so much! I felt it was one of her strongest on this album hands down.

I found Fashion of His Love reminds me of Born This Way. I find Fashion for His Love is the Father of Born this way :)

Bad Kid is also a soft spot in my heart. I love the melody in the chorus and how it's written. I feel like spritzing some Exclamation perfume. I think of that big 80's black and white bottle when I hear a lot of these tracks :) It's a good thing!

There is this breakdown in Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) at about 3:35 when the organ comes in - it's something I would totally write! I need to get Ellemusic out there!

My heart also dug the song Heavy Metal Lover. Always love Lady Gaga's lyrics and the chorus "Ooo's" are just brilliant. Love the production! This is a lovely song to dance to.

Electric Chapel reminds me if Depeche Mode and Billy Idol got together to write a track. I think this is what they would come up with. Love the dark bells in the chorus, for sure!

All in all I wouldn't compare the greatness of Fame and Fame Monster to Born This Way because I think they are both lovely and brilliant in their own right.

Definitely suggest buying this album!

Mackie's and May 24 Weekend!

To be honest -I was quite surprised how well the weather turned out for this May long weekend. Usually it is either cold or super rainy - and just not great weather to do anything fun and outdoorsy.

Visiting Port Stanley was very last minute yesterday, and it was just nice to walk to the beach for 30 minutes and go to Mackie's, my great love (I've wrote about the place before) - since they are celebrating their 100th year in business this year!

Of course - I grabbed an Orangeade and small fry to hold me over until I got to my Ben Thanh's (favourite Vietnamese/Thai cuisine).

The sun was VERY much needed for my soul this weekend. I felt so much better after going for a drive listening to Leonard Cohen and seeing the waves bringing in the Summer. It was a little chilly, but it was nice!

This fellow Canadian indie group is made up of one amazing songwriter named Jason Ogden and such a fantastic band! They just released a 5-song EP called Gold Standards and I am actually really digging it!

I was listening to "Chop Yourself into Little Pieces" in my car the other day, when it was so warm and sunny - and I was driving with the windows down and making wind waves with my hand, all while driving the country roads to my parents house.

You can grab Penny Blacks EP on iTunes, Rhapsody - or probably the best place is on their website, where you can stream, and buy, the album! :)

I would personally LOVE to see them live!

8 Month Update!

(I was supposed to write this blog on my Hunnie Bunnie Babies blog, but Friday 13th made me write it on the wrong blog ... blasted crazy days)

I am a little late on my post, but I will update you all the best I can recall ;)

Edie is growing so fast and laughing up a storm these days :)

She is bigger than most kids her age as she meets older babies and she looks so much bigger!

We had a wonderful visit from my hubby's family who visited from Norway - and we had such a lovely Easter with them!

Little Edie dressed like a little duck (I know you were expecting a little bunny!) and for her first Easter the Easter Bunny brought her an American Girl Bitty Baby doll :)

I've had a huge love for these dolls as I have read this one magazine over and over again from 1986 (I believe their first catalog that was released) and I always wanted Kristen, which was a girl from Sweden.

I must have channeled my inner Scandinavianism from a very young age :)

The magazine is very fragile now - I still hope to keep it for years to come. I thought it would be nice to buy a little doll for Edie on the 25th anniversary year, as it will also my age at the end of July. So I guess it means more to me. Hopefully one day I can own a Kristen doll :)

The little one now has 7 teeth! It's crazy! She also loves all of her food and doesn't fuss about any of that. A truly old soul :)

I even catch her laughing at the right parts when she watches tv alone.

While our Norwegian family was visiting, we had the opportunity to have our Edie Marie sort of baptized without a denomination.

The ceremony was called "Celebrating New Life" and was performed in our home by Patti - a licensed minister, who actually married us in 2009 - so it meant even more to us.

We had a little celebration over the Easter weekend followed by a brunch. It was a very intimate gathering, but meant the world to everyone there :)

Edie is so loved, so very loved!

I'd like to think this is my mother with my two brothers and I :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I got to spend mine with my favourite mothers of them all! My mom of course and my sister-in-law :)

We started off the day have the famous breakfast skillets from Yia Yia's Grille down Longwoods Road in Lambeth.

Mom and I went shopping with my dad as well (he wasn't too thrilled) but it was just so nice to go out and enjoy the sunshine and the coming of Summer! :)

I was spoiled with a very thoughtful gift from my man. I got a bass guitar! I needed one so bad to record with and just play around when I want something different from the guitar or keyboard so it was super nice! I love how it's a semi-acoustic bass.

It was such a lovely day and I am very blessed to have the family and friends that I have :)

My Prediction of William and Kate's VERY Close Future!

They will have 2 to 3 children (2 for sure because they have to) and the first will be a girl and her name with start with the letter "E".

Finished the Backsplash!

Yes! This weekend my hubby finished a DIY project and did our backsplash in our kitchen with polished stone tiles!

I am oh-so-proud of his articulate work - as he paid so much attention to detail. :)

My Prediction of Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress! Will you be up to watch the Royal Wedding?

Here is my new carpet - a Union Jack in the living-room to commemorate such an awesome occasion! ;)

It's the night before and I am so excited about this wedding - as if it was my own child getting married, or perhaps me! I feel nervous for the princess to be, as I feel I can relate to her so much.

I decided to predict her dress! Even though Kate will be a modern princess, I think she is going to bring back some vintage Victorian, couture-style. It will be fresh and not stuffy looking. Maybe Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen may be the designer? Who knows - but hopefully she went British :)

First of all she will have the huge cathedral veil which is a given.

I believe her hair will be up, perhaps in a high proper - big bun.

The neck would go up like this - but with buttons down the back and long sleeves in lace or solid.

Kate will probably wear ivory - not white and, having to wear long sleeves, I see almost a bolero styled top going into dress with old Victorian-styled silk buttons down the back. The sleeves are either in a English lace or solid ivory material - but not to heavy for Spring. I do see a lot of lace, though! But, like I said, still nice for Spring! :)

I also see it with a little cupping on the shoulders, but a form fit to the arms.

Also, high frill for the neck (but not too frilly or much at all), even though I see it high up in the neck like a turtleneck but open in the front from the neck going into a sweetheart cut (see photo below).

I think Kate could rock a dropped waist for her long torso - so I see a corset fitting to the dress but perfect enough in fit, because it's obviously made just for her. Then, like I said, the little buttons down the back.

The dress will go out like Princess but not too poofy like prom dress styles - or just bad wedding dress styles. A beautiful big-gown transition. Like a nice flow to big - if that makes any sense? The dress below has way too much stuff going on, but with cleaner, classier lines would be great - but it's the best way to explain my idea.


This dress is too busy/messy but it's the closest I could find to my open turtleneck/sweetheart top explaination.

The top also could come in more like this, to hide more skin, respectively.

There will also be a lovely and extremely long train (of course!).

For jewelery - I see deep blue tear-drop sapphires (if not - straight up diamond tear-drop earrings) and gold pieces to match nicely with her engagement ring. I don't think she will go over the top - but enough to show she is going to be crowned a princess.

I am so excited!

I wonder how close my prediction will be :)

Ever since having little Edie, and taking mucho amounts of pills ever since I got sick, my skin and hair have been suffering the side effects and have been super dry for the past few months.

I am a religious Bumble & Bumble user (since the tender age of 16 - no joke. I'll write about all my products soon) but I needed to get even deeper than the B&B "Deep Treatment" conditioner (which is still wicked - by the way). I felt I needed instant shine - without the nasty oil residue. I've looked everywhere for such a product and after much searching I came across this amazing Moroccanoil!

This brand is the Cadillac of argan oils - found growing only in Southwest Morocco. I decided to try it the first time on Sunday - and I must say this skeptical girl was mighty impressed! With one application my hair felt soft and it was insanely shiny! This product is jam-packed with antioxidants, UV protector, and is rich in vitamins to help strengthen the hair over time :)

If you do have fine or blonde hair - they have an alternative oil to use. I have fine hair - and I found the original was just great for me. You don't have to use a lot of product - as a little goes a long way :)

As most of you may know, I have been doing my music in Berklee School of Music and this was my last assignment in my Songwriting: Harmony course with the coolest teacher - Shane Adams! I have him again for this next Melody part of my Masters and I am super excited about it!

Beaba Babycook - Finally Making Food!

It's one thing to buy the Beaba babycook, as I wrote about how lovely it was long ago. I got use out of it today for the first time, to make a couple of batches of delicious sweet potato and carrot puree.

Sometimes the thought of making baby food just makes me not want to make it - but I couldn't believe how amazingly easy it was to use this brilliant machine!

I went by what I was cooking by looking at the chart, filled the container to the #3 line (good for potatoes and carrots), poured it into the side and let it do its steam job!

I came back when it was finished, poured out the steamed water and added some of Edie's bottle formula, to add some liquid and good extra taste to her meal.

I pulsed for half a minute and it did an amazing job! I was so excited that I kept going - putting some away into the freezer.

Edie loved it so much, which made my food making skills such a gratifying experience :)

It's nice, because we receive organic fruits and veggies once a week to our door, and we always find it a fun challenge to see what we can make with certain things. It's good to know I can always puree things for the little one - according to age of course :)

I am REALLY happy about all the Beaba products as I have almost all of them now for her, from her first Christmas - as you can buy things they need and justify it ;)

They finally made the Chef Dad Babycook book (J'adore!) in English from its original French version and it is fantastic! I highly suggest this one along with "Cooking for Baby" - both very good baby cookbooks.

BBC One presents: Come Fly With Me = My New Favourite Show!

If any of you remember how brilliant the show "Little Britain" was, the duo is back with a hilarious new show called "Come Fly With Me" created by and starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams (totally have a crush on him).

It's a comedy/mockumentry about the daily activities that happen at the airport - spoofing the actual British documentary shows "Airline" and "Airport".

Since the electricity was out last evening for quite some time - I got to enjoy watching episodes with the remaining battery life on the laptop. This show is fantastic!

If you love anything on BBC or love British humour in general- this show might be your flight of fancy!

I am seriously pumped for the new Britney Spears "Femme Fatale" album.

Listening to what I have so far - I totally dig the production! The sound is hard, sexy with a side of Southern grit.

I only wish I came close to having half the sounds they create on this album. Of course - she works with Swedish music genius Max Martin (again) so of course this album will be epic!

I am digging Britney's new single "Till the World Ends" a lot! Will you be buying her full album "Femme Fatale" March 29th?

KARVT : 100% Authentic Wooden Skins!

I have been so slow with updating my blog lately, as I have been a little sick - and with the new medication kicking in, which is also making me super tired! Not to mention baby and school. I'm going to be a little better this week ;)

KARVT is my new love for pimping out my Apple products! I have come to love natural wood things and this was up there on my list since before Christmas! These pieces are made to order, so it took its sweet time to make it to my house - but they are so worth it!

These skins are 100% wood and you can get them in any finish and type. For my MacBook Pro I got it in pine and for my iPhone I got it in cherry (also a wooden piece around the front screen). The thing that is awesome about these is that each piece is unique with different knots and characteristics throughout. You can even get skins for your iPad as well!

I am just so impressed with the durability of this thin slice of wood on 3M sticky backing. They are SO easy to apply. Just center the apple and slap it on and voila! You got yourself some pretty swag! The quality of KARVT is beautiful and I highly suggest these products.

Well worth the wait!

If You're Going to San Francisco...singing

Yeah I actually recorded my own version of that song at one point (which is not so great - perhaps I'll re-record it one day) :)

What an amazing city! I especially loved Hayes Valley! It reminded me so much of Nice, France, with the lush greenery, pastel-painted buildings, palm trees and beautiful ocean scenes from many piers off the coastline.

Home of the famous "Painted Ladies", where the outside opening scene of Full House is filmed. The outside of one of these famous homes was actually supposed to be the Full House's house - however, the show was actually filmed on the inside of this home (pictured left), interestingly enough!

We also had a chance to drive up to Napa Valley, where all the famous vineyards reside. What a beautiful landscape and homes. It was like I was in the deep south mixed in with a Tuscan flair.

We had a chance to stop at 4 vineyards for wine tastings, before we were really feeling the alcoholic effects :)

All of them were quite lovely (Hall, Heitz,Castello di Amorosa, Rubicon Estate).

I really wanted to stop at the Nickel & Nickel, as the outside reminded me of a Louisiana-styled home - unfortunately it was too booked up to accept drop-ins that day. (pictured - top right)

My favourite winery would have to have been the one owned by the famous Francis Ford Coppola; Rubicon Estate, formerly known as Niebaum - Coppola Estate.

They must have insane amounts of money to make movies and wine. Sofia even has her own blanc de blancs, rose, and Riesling that I really want to try. The world famous and most expensive "Rubicon" was the smoothest, most lovely of wines I have ever tried.

This wine is what put them on the map between 1882-1885 by the original Ingelnook founder Captain Gustave Niebaum. My brother and his fiance have a couple of fine bottles - and are waiting to crack them open on their wedding day. I also can't wait for that ;)

My brother also bought a few other great tasting wines and my other favourite from the same estate, named after the Captain himself - which was also so damn smooth! We had it over a Ruth Chris's steak which was a match made in food heaven! If you go to San Fran, you have to check out Napa Valley, as the drive in itself was so beautiful!

At the Hall vineyard, we had to take a picture with their steel men hanging around outside, as it reminded us so much of the Norwegian men that I wrote about long ago (the Broken Column art project of 21 rust men).

I think someone was a little Nordic inspired ;)

They also had some lovely wines - and their cream of the crop is their red-labelled Kathryn Hall.

Heitz Cellar was offering free wine tasting because it was their 50 year anniversary. Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 was also uber delicious and the smell was sooo lovely.

So lovely my brother also had to take some home as it was the original bottle that turned him into the wine connoisseur he is today. Taking after our mother of course :)

We also went to this Italian castle winery called "Castello di Amorosa", that was actually started construction on in 1993 and finished only 3 years ago. It was pretty cool to build something old - but being through actual old historic castles - it was ok :)

The wine tasting was really good here though!

How could I forget the breakfast that was so good - I asked to go again the next day and for the exact same meal! STACKS!

Best San Francisco breakfast place - hands down - even though I can't even compare anywhere else. Next time I will :)

They had the best applewood smoked bacon and avocado omelets to die for! (My brother testing out the cam on my iphone 4 with it's ultra white flash over an interesting convo)

On Sunday, after our second Stacks date, I got to taste the best macarons in the world! And best of all; they are gluten-free!

Yes, Paulette macarons would be my new hangout (doughnut shop styles) if it came to me wanting to chill for a week there, which I can see now as easily done. So soft and so fresh - just melt in your mouth goodness.

Now I am just teasing myself, because I could really go for 1 or 2 right now - as they are just the perfect size!

After that we headed to Union Square where we checked out some shops and just enjoyed the only proper sunny day we had there. They had some lovely Opera singers out on the streets singing - that was a nice walking accompaniment.

Later on we headed out to the famous Pier 39 where we got to see the sea lions and checked out Alcatraz from afar (we need to check it out for real next time) and a super nice Aquarium called Aquarium of the Bay, where I got to touch a different type of sting-ray!

I touched one in England named Pancake but this certain breed looked more like a manta-ray, but smaller. They always look like they are smiling underneath!

I also touched a couple different types of live starfish - because a little boy was daring me (thank you for the push, kid) and live coral. I always get such a rush when I can do things like that.

I have a huge respect for underwater creatures and I am OK with the space we have between them and us. They are so beautiful and relaxing to look at!

It was also super awesome going underneath them, while we went through a moving, aquatic tunnel. You really felt like you were in there - and sometimes that was a little frightening. I'll include a video!

Oh! I also forgot that we walked over to Fisherman's Wharf! We walked by these really cute and world famous sourdough animal-shaped bread loaves at the Boudin Bakery. I wish I wasn't gluten intolerant so I could try this sourdough goodness!

That night (and after an hour and a half spent waiting for a table) - we got to try the world famous (and might I add ridiculously busy) Cheesecake Factory. I was impressed with my meal - but unimpressed with the manager and the lack of knowledge anyone had about food allergies. It's one thing to ask a waiter and they don't know - which is totally fine - but when the manager doesn't know ... well, that is just bad news.

Unfortunately, I didn't want to risk trying any of the cheesecakes - and the cheese in itself would have done a number on my tummy anyways. But still - I wish they knew. They do make a mean strawberry daiquiri though!

San Francisco is a little French with a hint of Southern charm - basically everything I love! And it's interesting to know that the city itself is so small! Just a little bigger than London, Ontario, which is crazy! 800,000 people live there. However, if you include the area around, there's more than 7 million people - and I was informed that the population of the city itself basically doubles during the workdays - as people commute in from the area around.

My brother and his fiancee have such an awesome apartment with huge windows - looking out at the wonderfully lit city hall. I can't wait to visit them again!

If you're looking for a really wicked city loaded with lovely architectural history - definitely check out San Francisco - you'll love it!

David Guetta feat Rihanna - Who's That Chick? (Day Version)

Who's That Chick (day version) makes me smile and dance around the house. This video is like the Aqua cheesiness that I am ever so lacking in my musical life right now.

I really love and want to own Rihanna's outfit as it is quite Japanese cosplay-esque (I also want her night version outfit).

When I play this track its like I have this over-whelming urge to cover my Laptop with Lisa Frank stickers ... You remember those? I actually never had the opportunity to own any as a young child - I guess now is my chance ;)

The video doesn't make any sense - but that is the beauty of it. LOVE the song!

I will also add the night version here at the bottom; which I also like, but ... it doesn't scream Lisa Frank stickers, cosplay outfits and sweet Danish pop music...

The Avett Brothers: I and Love and You = Wow...

I love music that reminds me of the deep south and old country folk music like Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris. After hearing these guys at the Grammys play their song "Head full of Doubt/Road full of Promise" the other evening - I couldn't help but be mesmerized by them!

I jumped on iTunes and supported their talented asses right away, because I could feel their sincerity in their lyrics and voices accompanied by beautiful music.

Their album "I and Love and You" is an album I can see myself listening to for a very long time. It's one of those albums that people of all ages can relate to. So, dad, you better get one this one!

Definitely suggest this album!

It's been quite busy here over the last few days, so I apologize for my lack of posts. Bad me! *slaps wrist*

Anyways, when I woke up and got a bottle ready for Edie - she came over to give me a little satin purple satchel, in which I could tell there was something from Disney Couture again! (I sort of picked it out long ago).

I thought it was fitting because it was a cream-coloured heart with an arrow through it, with a gold Tinkerbell on top. I see it as the first Valentine's with Edie and it's a little enchanting and magical.

I have two Valentine's sweeties now! It's something I'll give back to her when she is old enough to wear it. I am so cheesy, I know :)

But, all in all it was a good day.

We celebrated Valentine's Day proper on Friday evening at Auberge du Petit Prince, where they have a seperate gluten-free menu for me! I felt like a princess eating there and shall I mention that the creme brulee is to die for! (even though my lactose-intolerant tummy would tell me otherwise).

The service is wonderful and the building itself is very cozy. Everyone was professional to my needs and the food was delish, of course! Definately suggest a night for dinner there for anyone!

TomTom - GO 730!

So - since I get lost walking from the kitchen to the living room, I've been craving a GPS for my car for quite some time. This Christmas, I got a TomTom Go 730. I didn't want a Garmin - no offense to all Garmin users (which is everyone - so let me bring you to the TomTom side!).

Seriously - the TomTom will not say "Recalculating" in a bitchy, nasal voice once! :)

I really was interested in the TomTom for its Bluetooth handsfree calling (if I'm not in my own car). Also - the traffic update service giving me up-to-date accident or slow traffic information, and offering me alternate routes. It also recalculates travel time based on the traffic information - it's so smart! I still always seem to get there 15 minutes late - I just can't turn left, Zoolander-style, I swear! Just (almost) kidding.

The Tomtom has this utterly cool thing called "TomTom IQ Routes" where they "evaluate routes based on actual traffic speeds, rather than posted speed limits, and will recommend the fastest route for the time of the day". Basically, it uses information from all other TomTom users and considers rush traffic, traffic lights, day of the week, pedestrian traffic and then some! Even left turns, I'm sure! ;)

And let's be honest. I really wanted a TomTom to download some awesome new voices! Since I drive the Mini Cooper - I secretly wish Agent Cooper from Twin Peaks would keep me company on my drives. Kyle MacLachlan, I'm talking to YOU! :)

I haven't even touched on most of the awesome services that my Tomtom GPS offers, but what I have witnessed so far leaves me mighty impressed!

Seriously though - I am so happy with the TomTom Go 730. I am confident that the Englishman (whose voice I loaded on there) will take me to my destinations confidently without being of any annoyance. It also helps that they know ALL the street names. Even ours, that was just finished before the winter hit!

If you haven't got a GPS and have been undecided and wondering what to choose ...without question - Go with one of these ;)

Agnes Obel - Philharmonics = Most Beautiful Album of 2011

The Scandinavians tear at my heartstrings every which way when it comes to the personal and musical! For some reason I have been fascinated with the Nordic music scene for many years now, and Agnes Obel is no exception!

I am digging this Danish singer's new album "Philharmonics", as she sings and plays the piano so beautifully. She reminds me of a female version of Woven Hand with that little southern vibe to the music. I love it!

Obel kind of reminds me of the Norwegian artist Susanne Sundfør (freaky- I wrote about her in February of last year) as these albums make my soul sing with so many emotions. :)

Since last year, when I was pregnant - and up till now, having some new worries over a couple of spots on my skin, the doctors are not really letting me go to a tanning bed ever again! Norwegian Boy Fends off Wolves with Creed Song!

CNN reported about the Norwegian who fended off wolves with playing Creed! I thought this was pretty fantastic because it's about Norway and a smart little 13 - year old boy! Yeah - I heard it from Chelsea Lately ;) Love her!

Here is what CNN had to say:

"Luckily for Walter Eikrem, it does not appear Norwegian wolves care for Creed.

The 13-year-old was walking home from the school bus stop in the town of Rakkestdad this week when he noticed something on the hillside near his family’s farmhouse, according to Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine.

At first he thought they were dogs, but he soon realized they were wolves – four of them – the magazine said, citing Norway’s TV2.

The boy, remembering that his mother had told him never to run from wolves, pulled the headphones out of his mobile phone and cranked up the volume on the tiny speakers.

He was listening to “Overcome” by Creed, an arguably Christian rock band, and apparently, the wolves were not fans.

(Initial reports indicated Walter shooed the wolves away with a Megadeth song, but the blog at Gibson guitars cleared up the confusion.)

“They just turned around and simply trotted away,” he told the TV station, according to Der Spiegel. “The worst thing you can do is run away because doing so just invites the wolves to chase you down ... but I was so afraid that I couldn't even run away if I'd wanted to.”

To be fair, Walter was yelling at the top of his lungs and wildly flailing his arms, so it’s tough to say exactly what made the wolves decide the boy might not be delicious.

His mother told the local paper that she was going to pick her son up from school because she knew there were wolves in the area, but she got carried away shopping, Der Spiegel reported.

“I have a completely guilty conscience,” she said. “The previous evening, we saw three wolves on the edge of the forest when we were putting our horses in their stall. The horses were panicky.”

Um, thanks, mum? … Well, OK, scratch that. Perhaps sarcasm is a little harsh for the woman who taught young Walter never to run from wolves."

I am in love with this commercial. As many of you know Gwen Stefani has been my idol since I was 9, and she just always makes me feel so good!

I get so excited when I see this ad, that I just want to throw on everything L.a.m.b. and Harajuku Lovers that I own - including a wicked eBay find for the spring/summer that I found for a pretty good price!

Yes! I got my hands on a L.a.m.b. Nikola Hobo bag in Nude from her Ultraviolet collection. This is pure luxe that I finally could afford pretty much a year later - because I never like to pay full price for anything (nor can I afford it!) if I don't have to.

I like it because it's classic - yet edgy like everything else Gwen Stefani designs. I got a really nice L.a.m.b. purse a couple of years ago for Christmas and the quality, down to the stitching, is so fantastic that it still looks new.

I will always and forever be impressed with L.a.m.b. bags.

Tea Tasting at Tea Leaves In Stratford!

This past weekend featured quite an exciting event that I have been wanting to do for quite some time! As you can see by the title, I did a little tea flight with my hubby, my close friend, Nova Markina (who took all these wonderful photos - click her name to check out her photography blog) and her awesome mom!

We got the opportunity to sit down and get properly educated and cultured by none other than Karen Hartwick - a certified Tea Sommelier, accredited by the Specialty Tea Institute in New York!

I was so impressed by her fountain of knowledge and history when it came to everything tea.

It was so interesting how different tea tasted if you slurped it around in your mouth, and how the tastes and the smells change after a period of time - even how crucial it is for steeping times between different types of teas.

Also - the correct temperatures they require depending on the tea family - and how many times some teas can be infused over again.

I also found it cool - that depending on where the tea was processed (for example China and Japan), that in China they roast the green tea leaves, while in Japan they are steamed.

Love this clay teapot set - gave our mouths such an organic tasting experience! (pictured below)

Tea is actually extremely technical - more than a glass of fine wine if you ask me! She showed us pieces that she has brought back from her travels and we had a little tea ceremony that was so beautiful and interesting.

Tea is such a healing remedy, I took home some 2 year Pu-erh for detoxing the liver (also great for the whole digestive system), that I am drinking so much of right now. It's very earthy tasting and balancing.

I also picked up Houji Kukicha (I love saying it) for realkalizing ones blood as well as providing calcium - actually it's higher in calcium than a glass of milk!

This green powder and whisk (pictured below) is to help aid headaches and apparently works wonders!

It was such an amazing experience, and I can't wait to go visit Karen again to pick up my favourite tea of life, "Vanilla Rose White" white tea with vanilla bean and rose petals. To die for!

If you want wonderful loose quality tea - check out Stratford Tea Leaves. If you can't make it out there physically - you can order online as well. Stratford makes a wonderful day trip, but if you decide to stay over night - Karen also offers Rosewood Manor Inn, a lovely Bed & Breakfast in the good company of the tea tasting bar.

If you want to try something a little different, I highly suggest tea tasting at Tea Leaves in Stratford! It was a lovely and cozy experience, and I can't wait to go back!

This mother-daughter team out of Cleavland, Ohio sure knows how to make a mean muffin mix!

Right now, I am making a couple of loaves of their "Meridith's Marvelous" moist & tasty banana bread! I can't wait for them to be finished! I couldn't help myself but get a raw taste of this mix before throwing them in the oven, and it's to die for! I actually found this package at Homesense, but I believe you can purchase their mixes right on their website! They are gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free, casein-free, peanut- free, Tree nut - free, corn-free, egg & soy-free - so we can all enjoy them! :)

UPDATE: Oh my goodness, this is the most delicious mix I've ever tasted! It doesn't even taste gluten-free and it's so moist and yet so light and fresh!

It feels like a decade since I've worked on my own material. I wanted to become a better producer and decided to go back to school to learn Pro Tools at Berklee School of Music - an online college run by the actual Berklee College in Boston, Massachusetts.

It's brilliant and the teachers are all amazing as they teach both in school and online - so it's a wonderful experience. I start back at Berklee next week as I am working towards my Masters in Songwriting! I hope to get more commercial and hopefully meet some really cool people again :)

My goal is to demo out my songs and work towards a publishing deal and perhaps have wicked artists performing my tracks or pieces from them :)

Since I have been sick and had Edie, it was hard to get back into it - but once I revamp my computer to mucho power - I think I am ready to pump out some more fat beats!

I call this song "Find Another You". Writing music is the best therapy of life. This track is still "rough" and will always be never-ending in the works until someone wonderful wants to reproduce it, but I just want to get my ideas out there for you all to hear!

Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-650

One of the things on my Christmas list was this lovely 6-inch e-reader from Sony! I would have easily settled for the pink 5" pocket edition, as it was a close contender, but when I opened up this little baby on Christmas eve - I melted like the Snowman!

Don't get me wrong - there is something organic about holding a real book in your hands or having that library of your dreams, but this is wonderful for traveling and convenience. I also get a mild case of ADHD when I see how many pages I have to go through and I get somewhat overwhelmed sometimes.

With the e-reader I just touch and digitally swipe the pages across ... and I never feel the sometimes uncomfortable pain of holding a real book open! I know I sound crazy, but this Reader would be awesome for someone with arthritis and people who love big or small fonts.

Not to mention; you can hold up to 50,000 books, audio books, music, and an oh-so-convenient dictionary when I tap any word 4 times that gives me an instant definition.

I enjoy reading with the e-ink because it doesn't hurt my eyes like a computer screen does (with its crazy flippy lights that get to my brains after some time).

Another lovely thing is that I can read perfectly in sunlight and at night I have my trusty book worm light (connected on the outside case) to keep me reading in a cozy dim setting.

There is a new romanticism that the Sony Reader has brought to me. Maybe because I have it in a lovely red with an equally beautiful case? Perhaps the fact that I can support my local library by borrowing books online to keep them going. I don't know, but it's exciting!

I bought a book called "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" by Marina Lewycka which is pretty good so far. It also is nice when I am holding baby Edie to have this little gadget in hand and reading while she relaxes beside me, without her drooling and ripping at the "pages".

If you are hesitant about this change, I totally suggest it and if you truly love a book - you can always buy it and put it on that coveted bookshelf that you've spent years building :)

JuleKalender Days 23 & 24 (Finally!)

Yeah... it is super late posting these two last days of the Julekalander, but I feel so incomplete without writing about them!

On the 23rd I got an amazing bracelet from Disney Couture that says "Have Faith In Your Dreams" which meant a lot to me and not to mention that the hubby remembered that I mentioned Disney Couture one random day after grocery shopping. These little 'mention and remember" gifts matter to me the most!

Day 24 I got a really sweet gift pack of gluten-free products by Glutino! Very excited to dive into this package in the next few days :)

I'm getting some energy back as it has been gone since Edie has been born - I feel. It sucks that I have this disease, but happy that they figured what I had - finally :) There isn't a cure, but there is a good relief of pain now :)

The show must go on!

Life Update #2!

Even though I am still pretty weak, I was lucky enough to get out of the big H to ring in the new year with my family and a good game of Cranium! It was a tough few days, but now I am on the road to recovery. One day at a time :)

Life Update!

Right now I am typing from my hospital bed since I've been in and out of the Emergency Room over the holidays. I've suffered from a lot stomach pains for over 5 years now and it recently (after giving birth, in particular) got really bad. Lately I've been so weak, I haven''t been able to hold up my own body weight.

I was rushed to the hospital in Strathroy one day, then Christmas day I went in again (in London this time) with breathing issues and a huge face rash and they hooked me up to an IV. Then I started to go downhill and on the 27th I was getting so sick and weak I went back to Emergency at 3am at night. They performed an emergency biopsy in the morning, to find that I have Crohn's Disease.

"Crohn's disease causes inflammation of the digestive system. It is one of a group of diseases called inflammatory bowel disease. The disease can affect any area from the mouth to the anus. It often affects the lower part of the small intestine called the ileum.

Crohn's disease seems to run in some families. It can occur in people of all age groups but is most often diagnosed in young adults. Common symptoms are pain in the abdomen and diarrhea. Bleeding from the rectum, weight loss, joint pain, skin problems and fever may also occur. Children with the disease may have growth problems. Other problems can include intestinal blockage and malnutrition.

Treatment may include medicines, nutrition supplements, surgery or a combination of these options. Some people have long periods of remission, when they are free of symptoms."

Lucky for me, I didn't have bleeding or anything to that extent, but I fear when they check my intestines down my throat (hopefully in the next couple of days) that there will be lots of issues to go through. Not eating wheat or having dairy helped the issue by covering it, but they told me I did not have Celiacs. (Now we know it is not true and still needs to be tested at some point properly)

I still won't be able to have wheat or dairy, as it won't help this get any better and it is a little easier on the digestive system. Crohn's is hereditary, and actually affects one in 300 people in their 20s which I find very surprising! In case you're wondering, and just so you know, it didn't affect the outside if you know what I mean. I really hope I don't need surgery, but I will keep you updated :)

UPDATE: I still have to watch and not eat wheat or gluten as there was no way they could test for celiac at this time. I am still gluten-intolerant and have to be extra careful with what I eat as it will be a low fiber diet. Still at the hospital, but hopefully out by tomorrow!

As you may know I was uber sick for the last couple of weeks and it was just getting worse with stomach and pelvic pains since I dislocated my pelvis bone (I'll save that for another day :) Anyways ... I'm quite a bit behind on my updates.

At the start of this photo-taking process, my big camera's battery died, and I had to use the small one!

Day 17 started off with getting some really nice, framed gold damask repurposed pieces from Etsy! This picture doesn't do the these framed photos a justice (used small camera). Very pretty and I can't wait to put them up :)

Day 18 got a little interesting! I received a parasol for Edie's stroller, which I wanted to keep her skin out of the sun, or perhaps a light misty rain. Then I got some really luxurious Diesel underwear! Such an odd combination - but lovely! :D

Day 19 was really cool because I've always wondered how I could keep track of my food before it went bad or perhaps avoid premature throw-outs, as I HATE wasting food! So it was really cool to get these cool food calculators :) Just one press for 5 seconds when you open a new jar and stick it to the lid ... and it will tell you the hours and days since you opened it.

I also got a $25 gift certificate for Amazon and a handmade necklace from a lady at my hubby's old work place that she brought back from Peru!

Day 20 I got another framed thing! This time it was a The Cult album that was framed, as it was the original album where my hubby fell in love with The Cult song "Edie" - so she had a little piece of history of how her name came to be :)

I also got the Röyksopp album "Senior", that I already owned digitally, but not in CD form - which I still find very romantic. I love looking in the cover while listening to the album. Sets the vibe and tone :) Very happy for it! I also got a Bingo card and won! :)

Day 21 was a crrrrazy morning and I was sick for a very long time and didn't get a chance to open my calendar gift until I felt up for it ... and had the energy.

But, I got the Tori Amos "A Piano" collection on 5 cds that I have wanted ever since it came out ... which is probably 5 years ago now, so I was really excited about it! Tori Amos heals the soul!

Day 22 was a little sunny, as I got some really pretty sunglasses from Club Monaco! I tried them on randomly one day at the mall and it seems that the hubby remembered!

I am still a little sick, but this update was sooooo long overdue.

"Big" Night at Once Upon a Teacup with Chris Noth and LOVA Tea!

Tonight I had the wicked opportunity to meet Chris Noth at Once Upon a Teacup here in London, Ontario, while he launched his new splendid line of tea called LOVA tea!

As many of you know, I am a huge tea connoisseur at heart and just a fan of the actor Chris Noth himself - which made for a perfect harmonious night!

We were served some really tasty loose tea flavours or elements, as the LOVA lifestyle states, throughout the night and my favourite was the Pink Shimmer, where 50% of the proceeds of this particular tea goes to support breast cancer research.

I was quite impressed with the variety of teas they offered within each family type of the collection. I am a white and green tea fan, and although I didn't get a chance to try any of those tonight, I am VERY confident I will fall in love with them!

I am in love with the packaging, as it is very clean looking - and it reminds me of the hot chocolate I used to buy in Norway. It will be something I will leave on my counter top - they look that esthetically good!

There will also be a tea that helps the rain forest that will be launched in January. When I hear the good of these teas and what they go towards - they make this already fantastic tea tastes somewhat (if that's even possible) better to me :)

If you are ever in the London area, or Windsor for their other location - check out Once Upon A Teacup, as it is a wondeful place to have a nice lunch or dinner - and a nice hangout to bring your children.

I am really excited to bring Edie when she is old enough to understand, so she can dress up as a princess or whatever her heart desires; meet Disney princesses while I enjoy a calming cup of tea and a Caesar salad.

I should mention Stephanie (sister to Tara Wilson - Chris Noth's Wife), who has been so nice and inviting the couple of times I have met her. Such a good spirit :) (All three of them are so kind!)

I really hope they bring in some gluten-free products! They would see me there everyday! Soon enough, I'm sure :)

On our way out from the launch party, we received some gift bags and it contained a lovely LOVA tea flavour (I got crème brûlée! So pumped!).

It also contained a lovely hand-crafted necklace by "Crystal's Collection" from Chatham area. Crystal pays very good attention to detail and I see myself wearing this piece often!

The bag also contained a flowy tank top by Bobi and from what I am feeling so far it's made out of quite soft and luxurious cotton, proving to be comfortable and chill, yet feminine. I'm liking this against my sensitive skin. So much - I have to creep their site to see what else they offer in their line.
