I don't think they missed a spot in this quaint Norwegian home. I mean, I can handle wallpaper and a little busy-ness where it could be cute ... but this, to a Scandinavian, is blasphemy! I really wish I was there right now to go to an open house.

The layout isn't bad, and it COULD be cozy with potential... after destroying the walls and carpet and blue bathroom pieces ... Magical and Majestic!

Computers Want Me Dead - In Your Blood!

SUCH a solid track! I am loving this video to the max as well. It's like A-ha's "Take on Me", with similar vibes - and the production of this track, along with their others, is epic!

This New Zealand-based band also has another great song called "We walk in Circles" but it's "In Your Blood" that sucked me in, proper! I hope they come out with an album soon, as they are fantastic!

Portuguese/American Myspace Sensation: Sky Ferreira - One!

This 18 year old baby-faced beauty has such a catchy song right now! I can't get this amazing track out of my head! It's all 80's retro fantastic-ness wrapped into a lovely song. The official drop of this single is tomorrow, as it will be released and available to buy on itunes!

Her video keeps me interested in what she will come out with next. (You'll have to click the link below to check the official out)

Sky's album will be coming out sometime in 2011... Can't wait! Another reason I like her is that she lists Buffy Sainte-Marie as one of her influences. I love!

Basement Jaxx - Scars

I love listening to my playlists at random on iTunes because you get to revisit old or just completely fantastic songs at completely random moments when you need it the most. I guess it would be iTunes' "genius" at it's best :)

I wish from the bottom of my heart that I created this sample thoughout this "Scars" track from the Scars album. It's so brilliant and every time I hear it - it's epicness fills my soul. Of course, it features Kelis, whom I am in love with as well, so it just makes it that much cooler again!

It's with songs like this that I need to get back on my computer and make fat beats again! Which I think I should do now!

Beehouse Teapot!

Thee Brown Betty!

Speaking of tea the other day, I have to talk about my favourite teapot of life right now! I guess you could say Beehouse teapots are the "Brown Betty's" of our time - or really, just as good, but different, I'm sure.

You can purchase these Japanese Zero Beehouse teapots in an assortment of colours and sizes. I've had my 15 oz. size for a few months now in the colour Celedon.

With this size, my tea doesn't get cold and I enjoy about 3 1/2 cups of tea out of this. Great for trying to wake-up in the mornings or just a nice finish to the evening ... or for you and a friend :)

I love its built-in loose-tea holder which also makes it nice and easy to replace down the road if you need to.  They are pretty easy to find online or even your local boutique and teashops. I found mine here.

If you are looking for a wonderful Brown Betty replacement, I highly suggest making it a Beehouse teapot! I guarantee that it will make your mornings a little brighter ;)

Fort George! Niagara-on-the-Lake (With Videos)

As I said at Hunnie Bunnie Babies yesterday, I had to get away on a little trip before the little girl was born, and there isn't so much time now!

I am a huge museum buff, and anything I can see and experience, that has actually happened in history, is better than any textbook can teach me.

So, this weekend we enjoyed the Peach Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake with crazy parades on the streets and some lovely shops!

I spotted "Victoria's Teas & Coffees", which is now one of my favourite teashops, that was actually established in 1812! They bring in the freshest of coffees and teas and know a vast amount of great products. I was very impressed!

I bought a loose tea pack of green tea that was rather tasty, called "Long Island Strawberry". It had a blend of sweet strawberries and papaya pieces. This would also make a great iced tea!

The barista at the shop had somewhat of a good sense of humour, because when he served me my soy vanilla steamer, he had a side of peach crumble (for the Peach Festival) and a pickle!

He served it to me - and I laughed and told him I would pass the peach crumble on because of my allergies, but the pickle was fantastic! He was great and a very good coffee connoisseur as he was so passionate in his coffee making skills :)

After a walk up and down the busy streets and ogling over old, Victorian-style homes, we decided to go see Fort George and spruce up our history knowledge!

I must admit, ever since I watched the show "Creepy Canada" and their episode on Fort George, where MOST of the ghost stories are told in that area, I had to check it out!

I really want to go on a proper ghost tour in September or October ... next year :)

I have had a proper scare in the Niagara-on-the-Lake region maybe 6 or 7 years ago now, and that experience will never leave me! I was staying in this big old house with so much history that Jesus would have been too scared to sleep there. However, the owner of the house looked like Tom Selleck, so I was safe.

To make a VERY long story short :)

Great experience though!

Here I am checking out this guy's Musket ... yeah. It was pretty awesome. I wanted to touch it, but I didn't know how he would have felt about that or if it was allowed.

That sentence was as awkward as the picture.

Fort George was an amazing experience, and I really felt the actors played the scenes and portrayed that life well. It made me feel how it would be to live through such an epic event and time.

I really enjoyed my experience there, so much that I added a video of the soldiers shooting off the muskets as well as a video of just the all around cool vibes of the place.

I loved the music and marches. I think if I lived in that time, I would of had my favourite tunes and I would probably still be making some sort of music. Even if it was singing while I washed all the soldiers clothes :)

Can't Stop Singing Billy Bragg's "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key" :)

If any of you have the Billy Bragg &Wilco "Mermaid Avenue" album, you know how awesome this song is! It makes me want to climb oak trees and swing off the willow ones too :) It came back into my head today and I can't stop singing it!

You should get this album, as it is lovely!

Tokyo Milk!

Probably the best packaging ever made for any product! Call me a hoarder or garbage keeper, but I am not throwing out these lovely boxes of art and wrapping! I was lucky enough to receive these pieces on my birthday from my wonderful sister-in-law Mandiemoon and my brother Sockboy (but really, she picked them out) as I have been seeing these products for quite some time, but never splurged on them.

Mandie obviously has the best of tastes because everything she chose for me was perfect! I got lovely lip balm called "sweet cream", which actually smells a lot like vanilla play-doh. I really enjoy this, as it reminds me of throwing my childhood on my lips. I can't stop sniffing my lips! Wonderful!

I also got a beautiful, Victorian pocket mirror that comes with a velvet-like pouch so it doesn't scratch in my purse. I love the rose on it! (doing up my lips proper :)

Tokyo Milk also makes a beautiful smelling soap! Again, the packaging is so good, I am contemplating just sticking the bar in my underwear drawer. I will have to buy another to actually use! :)

I am loving all the products on the Tokyo Milk website! I just want to get all the Victorian music soaps and bubble bath bottles. Along with the Edgar Allan Poe inspired candle and glorious stationary!

I wonder how good the perfume smells? I guess I will have to go on the hunt and find out!

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs = The New Soundtrack of My Life!

This new album moves my soul. I can't say that a lot about new albums these days, but ever since I heard Arcade Fire's "Intervention" song off their Neon Bible album, I fell in love with the Southern comfort and plantation feel of this wonderful Montreal Canadian band.

It's funny how I feel when I listen to Arcade Fire. I think of the deep South, as this weekend we drove to check out Uncle Tom's Cabin in Dresden, Ontario, as it was Emancipation weekend.

If only they'd had some big oak trees there, but they had my big weeping willows :) I'll talk about that in another post.

"The Suburbs" makes me close my eyes and sway like a tree, in fact. There are so many good tracks! I would say my favourites right now would be "We used to Wait", Rococo, Deep Blue, Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) and The Suburbs (Continued). Those are the ones I have on repeat, for now :)

Arcade Fire released this album just yesterday (August 3rd in North America) and I am in LOVE!  Definitely add this album to your collection. It's beautiful!

Campbell Goes Gluten-Free!

Perhaps they don't officially go gluten-free, but they have taken into consideration our need for some good tasting soup going into the fall.

It's funny because Campbell's soup in Norway only uses corn starch, so while I lived there, I was eating Cream of Mushroom soup like a queen! Unfortunately, here they use wheat flour to thicken a lot of products (not just Campbell's).

Hopefully soon, they just make ALL their soups with corn starch. Maybe they are just slowly introducing it in each soup one year at a time? That would be lovely :)

Campbell Canada is a proud member of the Celiac Association website.

I know I can totally make my own soup, but sometimes it's a little easier to just open a can, pop it on the stove-top, heat, and eat! Especially with a little one coming soon, and I can't go without soup in the cozy cooler days.

Why am I so excited about Fall? Who knows, but I am pretty happy about eating some gluten-free Campbell's Chicken and Wild Rice soup listening to Baroque classical music and a screaming baby ensemble in the background (maybe not ;)
